UNMC is launching an online registration and licensure system
The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) is a statutory professional body responsible for regulating the nursing and midwifery professions in Uganda. Its mandate is to protect the public from unsafe nursing and midwifery practices, ensure the quality of services, foster the profession’s development, and confer responsibility, identity, accountability, and status of the nurses and midwives.
Upon passing the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board national examination, successful candidates are required to apply for registration and licensing after the release of the results. Once registration and licensing is completed, nurses/midwives will receive a practicing license and registration certificate within 72 hours and 1 month, respectively as long as your documents are valid.
The goal of the UNMC online registration, Interview, and Licensing system are to automate the entire process of registration and licensure of the nurses, midwives, and private practice as well as notifying candidates and relevant review committee members on the completion of each stage of the application, review and approval processes.
Expected outcomes for the system will be;
- Ease tracking and management of candidate applications.
- Reduced paper management to only essential documents needed by NMC e.g. foreign qualifications by foreign applicants.
- Improved reporting on successful applications.
- Improved accountability.
- Automated notifications to candidates and relevant review committee member(s) on completion of each stage of the application, review and approval processes
- Consolidation of responsibilities in accordance to duties as specified in individual organizational roles
- Creation of digital footprint for each nurse that for follow-up

You are required to use the online registration system to perform the following:
- Update your bio data details
- Pay your fee using mobile money and direct transfer
- View your registration and licensure statuses
- Renew your practicing license.
- Register and renew your private practice facility
