PAPER LICENSE PHASE OUT

This is to inform all Nurses and Midwives that, effective 1st May 2025, the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council will start issuing card licenses, replacing paper licenses. Nurses and Midwives registering for the first time will receive their card licenses when picking up their original certificate or registration/enrollment, which takes 1 to 2 months to be ready.
For Nurses and Midwives renewing their licenses, license cards will be ready for picking up within 10 working days. You are required to come along with your original certificate(s), expired license, online payment receipt, and online provisional license. For those who recently renewed their license and received a paper license, your licenses will remain valid until your next renewal date, when you will be issued a card license.
NOTE: We shall only process a card license for a Nurse or Midwife who has successfully made payments and downloaded a provisional license with correct information, i.e., Passport photo, NIN, Cadre, registration number, etc.
We therefore encourage you to submit well-scanned professional documents through the UNMC online portal at https://registration.unmc.ug, upload a colored passport-size photo with a white background, and ensure that the National Identification Number (NIN) or passport number matches your details. Card licenses are secure, authentic, and easy to verify because they feature a passport photo of the nurse/midwife, the most recently obtained qualification, and the cadre of the holder. They also have a QR code embedded on the card that will contain encrypted information that, once scanned, will initiate the verification process to confirm authenticity.
