Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) is a health professional regulatory and supervisory body under the Ministry of Health, established under the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Act, 1996 (CAP. 274) to set and regulate standards for training and practice of nursing and midwifery professions in Uganda.

The Council has the mandate to protect the public from unsafe nursing and midwifery practices; ensure quality of nursing and midwifery services; foster the development of the nursing and midwifery profession; and confer responsibility, accountability, identity, and status of the Nurses/Midwives in Uganda.
